Introduction

My name is Robbie Johnson. I am from Tulsa, Oklahoma and am a senior here at OU. All my life I have been a huge fan of sports. I played almost every sport when I was younger such as football, baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, tennis, and track. My favorites are definitely football and basketball. As I grew older, I cut the sports down to just football and basketball because I did not have enough time for that many extracurriculars. Now that I am in college, I am focusing my attention on school and my major is Health and Exercise Science. After college I am looking to go to chiropractic school. So far I have loved my experience at OU and will cherish it forever. I hate that I am going to miss out on so much fun my senior year because of the coronavirus but I am dedicating my time to have as much fun with the unfortunate situation we have all been placed in. Even though this class will not be effected, I really hope that we can keep what classes we have in person. I learn so much better in that scenario rather than through zoom where I find it very difficult to pay attention. One thing I am happy about is that my younger brother is here with me at OU. He had his first year here last year and now he is a sophomore. It is nice having family at school with you so you are still able to have family time away from home. He also rushed the same fraternity as I did so we both get to spend a lot of time together. One thing I have really enjoyed at OU is university sing. This is a campus activities council organization and they encourage other groups to join together and create a 10 minute show filled with dancing and singing. I loved doing this my freshman year and even got the chance to be a director for my brother when he did it last year. OU is such an amazing place and I will miss it so much after I graduate.

  1. Hey Robbie,

I think it is really cool that your brother not only goes to the same school as you, but is in the same fraternity as you as well. I am also a huge sports fan, especially football and basketball. I use to play basically every sport there was when I was younger, (even lacrosse) but now I just play for fun with some of my friends. I am a big Green Bay Packers fan, and a Dallas Mavericks fan. I also agree with you how it is unfortunate that our last semester here at OU is hindered because of the pandemic.

  2. Hello Robbie! It's so cool that you were active in a lot of sports when you were younger, where did you find the time to do all of that? Health and Exercise Science is an awesome major, you can go so many places with it. What made you want to become a chiropractor? It's great that you have your brother on campus with you. Family is so important, especially during times like these.

  3. It is so fun getting to meet people a second time like this, Robbie! The first time around, it's hard to remember the details, but now I can connect up your Introduction with an actual person. And it is so cool about your brother: you will see that brothers and the loyalty of brothers is a HUGE theme in both epics. And I hear you about Zoom; I sometimes do Zoom guest things for other people's classes, but I find it so weird... I just don't feel very connected with people through Zoom, although I really do feel connected with people through the blogs and stories. Everybody's different of course... but I know people have PLENTY of Zoom going on in their other classes, so we don't need more Zoom in here: not when we can just share blog posts and stories and images and videos and music without staring at each other in Zoom space, ha ha. I am so curious to see what stories in the Indian world will grab your attention this semester!

  4. Hey Robbie! The first thing that caught my attention is that you're from Tulsa, because I'm from Muskogee. I love Tulsa and went there all the time growing up, and still do a lot when I'm in the area. I'm curious how big your school was, I know there are some pretty big ones there! Also I totally feel you about how sucky Zoom is, and how sad it is that we've kind of missed out on a lot our senior year. I'm sad I'm graduating and will definitely miss OU. What do you hope to do after graduation?

  5. Hello Robbie! Like yourself, I was involved in nearly every sport you could imagine but have slowly rolled back to where I am today, focused on school. It looks like you have enjoyed your time here at OU and it is super awesome that you get to spend as much time as you do with your brother. I am definitely jealous of that! You also have an impressive goal and will certainly have a very rewarding career. Best of luck to you!

  6. Hi Robbie! I think that it is amazing that you had an interest in a wide array of sports when you were younger. I would say my favorites to watch are football, basketball, and hockey! I love the mindset of dedicating your time to making your senior year as enjoyable as possible, within the current circumstances. I am glad that you and your brother can experience so much during college together! Wish you all the best after graduation!

  7. Hey Robbie! It’s nice to meet you! I thought I’d drop by and say hello since you left such a nice comment over at my blog. I completely agree with your disappointment in how our senior year is going. This definitely wasn’t how it was supposed to be, but I’m clinging to the hope that when we have the opportunity to enjoy our old activities again, we’ll appreciate them so much more. Good luck with chiropractic school! I know many of my drumline friends have appreciated chiropractic help from carrying our drums, and I probably should have dropped by a few times, haha. Anyway, enjoy your last semester, and I’m excited to be in class with you!

  8. Hey Robbie! You sure did play a lot of sports back in the day! I would have to agree with you that football is one of my favorite sports too. I love chiropractors and love watching videos on them cracking patients backs. Your brother seems like a cool guy and you are lucky to have had the chance to experience college with him and show him the ropes! I hope you enjoy your senior year and have fun in the chiropractic profession.

  9. Hi Robbie!
That's awesome that your brother is with you at OU! I grew up an only child so I can only imagine how great it would be to have a sibling going through this whole pandemic college experience with me. I hear you on the damper on activities though! I can't believe we're coming up on graduation and I can't even get my aunts and uncles together for a cookout. I'll have to do one yet another zoom call! That's okay - someone tell Corona I'm keeping track and so far it owes me one cancelled vacation, a couple of holidays and a future graduation celebration! :)

  10. Hi Robbie! I love that you add a picture of yourself so I dont really have to imagine what you look like. I was involved in sports during high school, but it became somewhat of ancient history for me now. I am glad you are able to keep it up! Your involvements in campus organization is something I regret not doing for myself. Chiropractor videos are so satisfying to watch. It reminds me of pimple popping videos but less yucky! I wish you luck on your journey!

  11. Hi Robbie! It is so cool that you have your younger brother here with you at OU! I also have my older sister living and going to OU with me, and it's nice having a little home away from home. I am so sorry that your senior year has been downplayed due to COVID, we really can't get any of these prime years back. However, you have a lot to look forward to in the future! Good luck to you and your future!

  12. Hey Robbie!

The way COVID has affected our college experience definitely blows, especially for someone like you who sounds very involved and extroverted. I think it's really cool that you and your brother get to go to the same school together. My sisters are both much younger than me but I always thought it would be interesting to be a similar age as a sibling. You sound like a really cool dude and I wish you and your brother the best.

  13. Hey Robbie!

I think that is really cool that you are planning to be a chiropractor. I sometimes watch chiropractor video and it is amazing work that people are doing out there. I am glad that you found a plan for what you want to do. I must say that we are the unfortunate generation because people went to college for more than just education and because of Covid-19, we had to put everything on pause.

  14. HEY Robbie!! It's Jessica! I had no idea you were in this class too! I am so excited to have a friend in this class, now we can brainstorm some creative ideas together! I agree this year has been bleh due to covid but gotta do what you gotta do to be safe! My little sister is also here at OU, and it has been so nice to have family close by. I know your brother must be so happy to have such a great role model and such a kind brother to look after him in school!

  16. Hi there Robbie, I completely understand not having time for as many extracurricular activities. I am an HES major as well and I understand the time and energy that you have to put into it. I love that you have such a close relationship with your brother and that you still get to be close to him even in college. That is so exciting! I had always heard of University Sing but have never seen it or participated, but maybe I will since you seem to really enjoy it! I have always heard fun and great things about it. Hope you are doing well!

  17. Hey Robbie!

I think it is so cool to be going to college with your brother. It must give you a piece of mind that you can be at school and still have your family around you. Chiropractic school must be har, but I have no doubt that you will do wonderful. I am a senior as well and it is making me sad that graduation is just around the corner. Time has just flown by, and I am grateful for all the wonderful memories here. I just wish that my college time was not coming to an end so soon. Good luck to your future endeavors!

  18. Hey Robbie! I’ve heard about how fun University Sing is from some friends who participate in it, and it’s really cool that you’re a director in it. Ten minutes sounds like a lot for a whole show, so it must be really exciting. I also agree that COVID has made this year a bit difficult to enjoy, but your outlook on it is true. We should try have fun with this unfortunate situation.

  19. Hi Robbie, it is nice to meet you! I think it is so cool how many sports you have done. I did both track and cross country in high school and can't imagine having time for as many as you. It's also cool how you have your brother here at OU! I bet that has only made your college experience better. Have a great final semester, and good luck in the class!

  20. Hey Robbie! Congrats on reaching your senior year, and best of luck with chiropractic school. It's super cool to have family nearby, and even better that you were able to rush the same fraternity. U-sing is a lot of fun, I'm glad you were able to participate! I'm sorry the pandemic has wrecked your last spring semester, but I hope you're still having as good a time as possible in spite of it.

  21. Hi Robbie!
It’s so cool how you were in so many sports! I completely understand on having to cut sports down due to not having enough time. I was in 2 sports when I was younger but had to eventually chose one since I didn’t have enough time. That’s amazing how your brother attends the same school. I know it can be hard leaving siblings at home when you go off to college especially if you were close!

  22. Hi Robbie, nice to meet you! Sorry to hear that you're losing your senior year to COVID, it's unfortunate how all of us lost of a chunk of our college days. I hope you've been finding a way to still enjoy yourself throughout everything! I think it's great you get to spend so much time and hangout with your brother. He's lucky he has an older brother like you to guide him throughout college.

  23. Hi Robbie!
Congrats on being a senior but I am sorry that you have to sadly spend your last year not in the way that you envisioned. I hope that you were still able to make some awesome memories. It's super cool that you want to be a chiropractor! I am a bio pre med major so I love anything that has to do with the body and helping others! I hope that you have a safe and healthy rest of your semester!
